New Universal Gas Transmitter Simplifies Installation and Reduces Costs

A Gloucestershire school has been closed since yesterday (February 2nd) following a suspected gas leak, it has been reported.

Newent Community School sent students and teachers home after the problem was discovered and the establishment will remain closed today (February 3rd) while work is carried out to fix the leak, the Gloucestershire Echo informed.

In a letter sent to parents yesterday, head teacher Jane Steele commented: “The suspected leak has been found today and needs to be repaired immediately.”

She explained that this required the gas supply to the building to be cut off, leaving the school with no heating.

Mrs Steele added that pupils will hopefully be able to return on Thursday February 4th.

The school was the first purpose-built comprehensive educational establishment to be opened in Gloucestershire in 1965.

It now has 1,300 students from the town of Newent and the surrounding rural areas, teaching to both GCSE and A-Level pupils.
